I agree, Gene, love my Hosta blooms, esp. since so many come at a time when
the shade garden is rather bare of blooms; some are fragrant - colors vary
from white to dark blue/purple. I have never removed them and my Hosta
leaves seem just fine...unfortunately, bambi also likes them as much as I
do, so it's rather a race sometimes to see if I get to see them or bambi
gets to eat them.
Plus, it's fun to grow mongrels from your own seed - every once in a while,
something seeds true or you get something rather interesting...not often,
but once in a while.
I've never been able to figure out why some don't like them...and I've read
opinions that they detracted from the plants....passes my understanding,
but to each his/her own...
