Do any of you provide water for the birds in the winter?
If so, do you have a bird bath heater?
We heat water for the birds all winter. We use a plastic plant pot tray for
the bird bath (16-18") and place this on piece of sheet metal over a car
battery heater mat (about $20 at any car parts store). This has lasted well
over 10 years, and is much cheaper than the heaters made for bird baths
(also can't hurt the birds because the heat source is UNDER the bath).
