I must weigh in to say that I too love Beverley Nichols...have read almost
all his books, including the non gardening ones, and the excellent biography
of him by Bryan Connon (Beverly Nichols: A Life). I also adore Ground Force
and Junkyard Wars (known as Scrapheap Challenge in the UK...I ONLY like the
ones featuring British host Robert Llewellyn).
Other favourite authors of garden essays: Katherine S. White (Onward and
Upward in the Garden), Geoffrey Charlesworth (A Gardener Obsessed), Henry
Mitchell, Des Kennedy (Crazy About Gardening)...and more...
