Re: and tools RE: Books?


Quite a few years ago - probably 12 or 15, I bought two forks from Smith
and Hawkin - expensive imports from the UK.  They have lasted for years
with not bending of tines.  I use them for the yearly cleaning of the very
packed sheep manure out of the barn as well as digging the the gardens.
We do not have a lot of rocks in the gardens, however, one bed is all
subsoil and bedrock scraps from an addition we built.  I have no problems
in that one with these forks.  Needless to say, each hole dug for plants
is back filled with well rotted manure before planting!  These forks come
in two variations: one with "flat" tines and one with square tines.  I
prefer the one with the square tines.  I certainly would not hesitate to
buy another when these do finally wear out.
