RE: campanula isophylla

Claire,
I don't recall that there was anything difficult about starting C. isophylla
from seed. That winter, I did several different Campanulas all at the same
time. They were seeded into plug trays & covered, then left outside in a
sheltered place until they began to sprout. They went onto the heating mat
in the GH from there. Since isophylla is more tender, I will leave it to
you to find a cool spot other than outside in your zone 4 winter! Do you
have Norman Deno's book? If not, I can look up his "recipe" for you. :)

Thanks for this information, I put it in my spring file. We'uns in this
area
are not mail-ordering anything for a long while. About the middle of April
for live growing plants. Dormant stuff can come a bit earlier.

It is the blue I would like and I do want it in the glass room. Anything
special about the seeds you recall? I will probably order both the plant
and
some seeds. It is winter blooming here and am told it can be kept going
with
cuttings. Anything that likes to bloom in the winter under cool conditions
is welcome here. Everyone else further south may like this outdoors, it is
a
perennial.

Marilyn, that begonia 'Escargot' thrived in friend's care and a rooted
cutting, alas, came back to me. Somethings you cannot give away however
hard you try.
