I have to admit to being a tightwad and loving sales like Marilyn's. I will haunt certain nurseries waiting for the sale because the prices are very high there. Some times it is almost to the point of gouging the public. ( My private opinion on the prices is that I am paying for the 'name' and their previous sponsoring of flower show entrants.) BUT, their plants tend to be healthier than the guy down the road, so I will buy when I just have to have it.hold an "end of the season" sale on the first or second weekend of October. All odds and ends, things that didn't sell well, common perennials that are easy to replace, things that are too tall to fit under the covers easily, etc are marked down 50% of my usual price. Plants disappear as if by magic and my customers are very happy. They come in droves and bring their friends. Building goodwill by rewarding loyal customers is (as Martha S. says) "A Good Thing" :)
