Last summer noticed an upswing in the amount of snakes living here, and
 this
fall noticed some hawks hanging out.
Both good things, Donna. We have black snakes that live in the ceiling of our
garden shed, sometimes creating wonderful sights, such as watching them
slither vertically up the inside corner of the shed to get back to the ceiling, or
writhing, all twisted around each other, suspended from the ceiling lighting
fixture in their annual mating.

I watched one kill and eat a mole one day. The snakes are indispensable in
the garden.
