Also regarding cat litter on your garden: I put some clumps (from the
clumping type of litter) and some used portions of the other type
(clay-based, I think) out around and in some chipmunk holes near the
garage hoping the scent would discourage the critters. I don't remember
how effective it was, but I do remember what a gummy mess the litter
formed. I wouldn't use it for soil amendment at all, and not for
fertilizer either. Aside from disease considerations, you'd have
neighborhood cats coming to check out and use your garden, too! :-(
