What kind of raspberries are you getting---black or red? When I
was a kid, lo those many years ago, my father had a large black
raspberry patch. He had wood supports for each row and pruned
the new growth down to that level in the spring. The old canes were
eliminated each year. They were really wonderful. I would like to
have had them in my east-central Oregon garden, too, but only the
red variety could be grown there because they are more winter
hardy. The temperatures sometimes got below -25°.
