Taking a small email break, couldn't resist checking this one out.
Well...since, like Tony Avent notes in his article on Hosta in the
latest Fine Gardening, I tend to plant in "drifts of one", can't say
I agree with all these items - there are some good points in there,
but taken too far. Takes all the fun out of gardening IMO to be so
organized....maintenance is fine, but I sure don't think it's the
point of gardening. What's better than the instant plant lust
satisfied when you nab that gorgeous plant and truck it home without
an earthly about where it will go? I'm not against planning by a
long shot, but it's the unplanned things in a garden that are often
the best.
Does smack a tad of PR for the landscape 'designers' and contractors
of the world:-)
