Marge you are most likely right, but then again I will step on some thin ice
here.
But please remember I am only make a guess, I cannot back this up with any
data at this time.
Potatoes I am sure produce some of the same chemicals that other members of
the Tomato family produce and a number of them are toxic to other plants.
Plants have made a living, so to speak, out of poising each other and insects
and some times even myself.
