I guess the blues have gone away for you - now you have something to start
"tending". I've been trying to simply keep my duties to spring cleaning in
the gardening rather than planting as I fear a surprise winter blast.
Yesterday I began pulling back my winter hay mulch and was surprised by many
seedlings. As for as this winters oddities---I too experienced many. Even
though our winter has been relatively mild we did experience freezing temps
(as low as 24 degrees) and several frost and I still have "alive" plants that
are very sensitive to even the slightest bit of cold (Cat Whiskers, Salvia
discolor 'Adrian', Musseandra). I've been gardening for five years now and I
would have to say that 1999 was my strangest gardening year yet - nothing was
as before.

P.S. Do you remember who was having the shasta daisy race last spring??
