Barb:
I really like osmocote fertilizer (along with lots of organic matter, of
course.) It comes in several formulatios; probably you can find one a
little higher in phosphorus. I'm not good at remembering to fertilize,
either, so the time-release formulations are great, in my book. I set out
pansies for winter bloom again this year, but I fertilized the bed with a
balanced formulation of osomocote, then mulched with chopped leaves, and
this has been the best year ever for that bed! I also like it in
containers, where other fertilizers have a tendency to leach out quickly
because they have to be watered so often in our hot and dry summers.
