Hi Kemberly, I finally reached our local Salvia Expert, Richard Dufresne,
who sent me the following about your Salvia ID, Sounds like you've got
something akin to Jack's Beanstalk!
Holly, This is Salvia regla, probably the Big Bend form `Mt. Emory' or
`Warnock's
Choice'. It is actually arboreal. I've seen them in Coahuila at 15 feet
tall with a caliper like a Louisville slugger while collecting with John
Fairey and Carl Schoenfeld of Yucca-Do. There are a number of forms, and
their hybrids will be very exciting. Both Tony Avent and I want to develop
some. Imagine a Salvia tree 10 - 20 feet high loaded with 2 - 3 inch orange
flowers from late summer to frost! Some forms get so laden with blooms they
weep!
I can send a JPG of several different forms on another post, if you like.
Enjoy*
