Anne,
Thanks for the input-- glad I'm not the only one! I am getting the
impression that these are fussy plants, which is not usually my cup of
tea, but the scent is so heavenly that it's worth the bother, I think.
Am grateful to all, and I think the consensus is that the slightly acid
pH is okay and the problem is soggy heavy soil and low fertility. Will
work on these, and I'm so glad I asked before doing anything I'd regret
about the pH.
