If placed in an area which was entirely green and if done with some attention 
to color and construction, the idea is not bad.

The sun streaming through colored glass in an area devoid of color might be a 
fun thing for the garden and it would be original as opposed to the absolute 
truckloads of garden art on the market this year.

If you run a search on the subject you find all kinds of symbolic meanings 
for bottle trees and a few really good pictures.

Just where one would find the colors in glass bottles must be a problem.  
Everything that was once in a bottle is now in plastic.
