Re: veronica recommendations?

It's cold and snowy, so I'm continuing with my questions and dreaming of
spring...
I grew veronica spicata from seed many years ago, and of course now have
lots of it as a result of self-seeding. I'm kind of lukewarm about it, can
be tall (30-36") and leggy, and doesn't look that good after the first flush
of blooms.
I'm wondering if some of the named varieties of veronica are worth
considering, such as Sunny Border Blue, or others. These are often listed as
long-flowering perennials (but then it seems that sometimes that term is
rather loosely applied). Are they a substantial improvement and worth space
in a perennial border?
I like Sunny Border Blue, but I think Goodness Grows is a superior plant. Foliage is fresher and the blue is a shade different. Icicle is decent as an accent. I have a pinkish one with "Fox" in the name and Giles van Hees looked good in it's maiden year.
I have another unnamed one with leaves that have a "leathery" sheen to them. I love this one and hope it spreads well.

I also have some of the 'Sightseer' strain, I think they will be thinned out some this year.
