If it is seed grown, Isabelle, you can save the seed from year to year.
There is an elaborate ferment and float and dry method for tomatoes but I
have no trouble with harvesting the seed, washing it clear of pulp and drying
them on wax paper. When dry, scrape them free of the paper, wrap in the same
paper and store in a paper (not plastic) bag. If a few fail, most will not
and you can keep your favorite variety for years. Oh yes, label the seed a
grievous thing if you have several varieties and neglect the labeling. I
keep an old one called Prudens Purple. I have kept it for years. Truth be
known, I just put them on the wax paper on top of the fridge and find them
months later in good shape.
