Renaming plants

Ah, this discussion shows up in the daylily world all the time. The
"All American Daylily Selection Council (AADSC) has been renaming
daylilies and selling them to the nurseries and garden centers for
quite a while now - often with new names. Trophy Takers also rename
daylilies if the name doesn't seem marketable.
I do know that this practice "frosts" the hybridizer and purist alike
in the daylily world.

As a side note, when the AADSC started and where naming their
daylilies All American XXXX, several of the 'big name' hybridizers
registered and introduced a number of daylilies with names beginning
All American XXX. Some were predictable, AA DOUBLE, AA TIGER, AA
ANGEL but my favorite .......

ALL AMERICAN HUCKSTER.

That name sums up my opinion of the whole thing.
