I do lots of cuttings but dwarfs conifers are slow so neat to see roots starting on any plant.

Tell you what, Nancy, If I can get some cuttings of Jossee to make it this summer I’ll be happy to send you one. I’ve done it twice but neither time was my success really good. Still, I think I got 40% to survive. Sometimes nothing makes it. On Deutzia Mont Rose I can get 90%. I’m not really good at it but it costs nothing to try. I did do cuttings on the shrub that was stolen but it only grows 3 inches a year. Not going to grow much ever.

OH, so sorry! It’s always something isn’t it? My Jossee Lilac died simply because I move a shrub that was next to it. Fortunately I had taken cuttings. Now my cutting has gotten much bigger than it ever should have, so something will have to be done about it – but not until after I take some cuttings – insurance. kitty From: o*@hort.net [mailto:o*@hort.net] On Behalf Of Nancy Robinson Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 8:01 PM To: 'p*@hort.net' Subject: RE: well, it's winter No, it will not. Things sound pretty rough in other locations. We did have one nasty windy storm a month ago. Glad I had secured the two trees I planted last fall. Other than that, just the one big snowfall in December, not much else. With this good weather I decided to take the plunge and stool the 30 yr old lilac that was taller than the house gutters. I’d been meaning to try this for years but the timing was never right. Hope I didn’t kill it! Plant and stick wire in ground. Rebar at angles on both sides or several large rocks. You may need them for yourself just to get outside. My Chamaecyparis Devine Sport got out of hole and walked off. A memorial plant too. Not good.

Just hope the summer is not as hot as last year Thinking it will be though. Hoping not as much dead as I fear from 2016. Planted a lot and most evergreens are dead. Hoping perennials fared better. All gardeners have such hope.
