Title: Re: well, it's winter

Only bloomed once and no seeds.  Still have not given up hope though.  Lost many dwarf evergreens etc last year.  Too hot for too long and no rain.  Still not much rain this year.  Daffodils and hellebore blooms are bigger than I have ever seen them before.  Substance, height, everything wonderful...up to in the morning I guess.  Daffodil society is suppose to have a late show but doubt we will have any daffodils to show in first of April.  I am trying to enjoy every one now.  ha

I have periodic diebacks on my plant, but that seems to be normal for this species.  Have you ever tasted any of the pulp surrounding the seed?  Not particularly appetizing looking, but mildly sweet and you don’t mind spitting out all of the seeds!

Spring can begin in the southern US in Feb. or March, but at our latitude – 43 degrees North, 88 degrees West, we’re lucky to get spring by April!

Still, I know better than to declare winter over. March always holds surprises.

It is not winter here in Tennessee.  Spring Beauties, bloodroot, and the best daffodils I have ever seen.  Large blooms, smooth surface, substance...beautiful.  Now the cold will come back but I will enjoy the best hellebores and daffodils I ever remember seeing.  Nancy

And the days are getting longer (I am an optimist)...spring is around the corner! If only the snow would go away!

Here the air traffic are on strike on the 23rd of Christmas. People will worry about getting home or on booked holidays getting away.
Rotters!!!

Merry Christmas and a very happy new gardening  year to everyone!
