As this is the first year I've grown either of these plants, I'm looking
at their sorry state and wondering whether they are dead or alive !

It depends on your zone. What is it?
Hi Paula,
Zone 8/9 ish. Frost to -5C, wind and rain, and then more rain. Will be
sorry if I lose these as the gaura gave me lots of pleasure at the end of
last season, and although the Crambe failed to flower last year, I'm really
hoping to see its cloud of blossom. Lots of other things get the "Wasn't
meant to be in my garden, chuck it" treatment ! Perhaps I should be
starting from seed, did I read somewhere that gaura are treated as an
annual ?
Mark
