<< that T&M has seed this year so may try again-they were striking
(but expensive). Had to look up cleistogamous in Hort III - thanks for
the new word :) "with pollination (self-pollination) effected in the
unexpanded, closed flower." Not that I had the plants long enough to
notice, but in case I do try again- how would I go about finding this
out? Does this mean that if isolated without any pollinator, there would
 still be viable seed set?

Cleistogamous flowers are usalu produced after the showy flowers are
fininished.
In some species the flower ar on stems that grow about half as high as the
leaves.
Others Have the flowers right at the soil serface or just underground.
The flower is green and round and deveolps into a pod.

Yes the plants if grown all by them selves will deveolpe viaible seeds.
And they should be the same as the mother plant.

I do not have a problem with slugs in my growing area- only next to the woods.
so thanks for the slug advice!

I think I will plant some in my new rock garden- at the bottom of coarse so
that i am not swamped with seedlings. My yard has not one little slimmy
stinker of a slug- thank God.

The Hosta looked great this year on the side of the house. the only part of
my old beds i did not redo last fall.

Put in a lot of ornimental grass last fall and lots of Peonies.
This spring I have set a side 100 stellas and 100 monkshood and some bleeding
heart. they should give me some color this year. started to many seeds this
year so the rest of the yard will be planted in seedlings-- not to excitiing
this year but next-- I can't wait.
Jeepers Its not even spring yet And I am worring about next year!!??
