Just to clarify, I was referring more to taking unwanted plants, starts,
etc., from friend's yards and property.
On occasion, we *have* traveled to various northwest spots where we were
able to request and receive the correct permission to remove wild plants.
This was done rarely and only when the area was robustly carpeted in the
said plant. One time, we obtained some local bracken fern in this manner.
Another time we obtained several small juniper trees in an area that was
scheduled to be dozed under for a resort development in the Oregon high
desert.
I certainly agree with the dictum that, with rare exception, wild plants
should not be dug or disturbed.
