Hi Bill,
Allan Armitage says that all Chelone sps. will germinate best with a moist
cold period of 6 wks.
Sow the seeds and put the pot in the fridge-40F is cold enough. I have had
a lot of success with placing seeds that need cold stratification on moist
paper towels, put towel/seeds in a baggie, and the whole thing in the
fridge. I check weekly and remove the germinating seeds to a pot.
Most hardy plants need a period of cold stratification and those that don't
won't be hurt by it.
