Also try calamintha. It attracts almost every insect that flies. The
plant blooms in late summer here in KY and when you look at it you'd swear
that the wind was blowing because of all of the insects on it looking for
nectar. I wouldn't be without it because it blooms forever, looks like
baby's breath, grows to only 12" high, looks great in bouquets, and
combines with just about everything you can plant near it. I've never
given it any special care and it withstands drought easily. I have it near
some lilies and buddleias -- very buzzy place in mid summer.

Bluestone Perennials carries it cheaply. That's where I just bought six
plants more this year. White Flower Farm has it, but will give you only
one plant for the same price I paid for three plants from Bluestone. The
plant grows quickly, but give it two years to look its best. It will
become as full as it is tall.

Be aware that while it is related to mint, it doesn't spread like mint --
at least not in my garden (but I wish it would). To me it smells like
mint. Others in my office have compared it to kitty litter. Do not get
the variegated-leaved variety. It didn't attract any pollinators (maybe
the person looking for plants around the pool could consider this one).
