Hi Sally,
I do not know the laws of the state of KY, but here in Indiana that one
Ginseng could have cost you dearly. Not only your shovel, but the car you
drove up in. Ginseng is on a protected list. As I understand the newspapers
here in Indiana, it is "don't even ask". They simply do not allow
collecting of anything from State forests anymore.... legally. Get caught
and you pay the price. There is a big crackdown either happening or about
to happen in many of the States. Please give some thought and be very
careful. Ignorance of the law will not get you off.
No preaching here, just sounding a warning. Times are changing and so are
attitudes toward collecting from the wild... whatever you or I may happen
to think in either direction of the issue.
