Velma - you must be blessed by the gods!  I did the same thing on 5 clumps
of English Ivy growing up my house - and I did it twice a year for 5 years
. . . and they ALL came back . . .every year!!!.  Not only did I rip all
the vines off my house, I cut the stumps open and painted Round-up on every
exposed surface.  I got so disgusted I dug their little stump bodies out
when it was evident the herbicide didn't kill them . . .and they all came
back!

I moved away and let the new owner discover their *joys*.
