1. Did you ever wonder how a Latin plant name SHOULD be pronounced? I
feel that when discussing plants, especially with plant professionals, it's
better to know the correct pronunciation !
Great site on the web ... doesn't have every plant listed that you can
think of, but enough to make it a worthwhile bookmark.
http://www.backyardgardener.com/plant.html
under "Gardener's Library" type in the Latin OR common name of the plant
you want to read/hear about. When the page you've asked for loads, there
should be a sound symbol (looks like a megaphone) next to the name of the
plant. Click on this and a sound file is downloaded.
2. A great search Engine: http://www.dogpile.com Searches in 12
different search engines (Looksmart, GoTo.com, Dogpile web catalogue,
Google, About.com, Infoseek, Direct Hit, Lycos, RealNames, Alta Vista, and
Yahoo) for your specific request, and gives you the top 10 sites in each
search engine that most closely match what you are looking for.
I don't feel so guilty about getting off the perennial topic on this one,
because it's helped me find lots of perennials (and other things too!) on
line.
