Yes, I grow Rheum palmatum Atrosanguineum. I live in Eugene and the plant
gets perhaps half-day sun. It gets hand-watered every couple of days and a
good handful of dry fish fertilizer in the spring with occasional light
fertilizing throughout the summer. It is now (last summer) about 4 feet
high with leaves about 30 inches across. The plant is now 3 years old and
was raised from seed from Jim and Jenny Archibald. I selected the saved
plant from a number of seedlings as it showed the most color. The first
year it was slow growing and after its initial growth it sat. I was
concerned but shouldn't have been as the next year it made good growth.
This year should be even better as it hasn't reached maturity (hasn't
bloomed) and the dormant plant has a very large base from which to grow.
