Well, Joanie, think it depends on where you're from and what kind of
accent you have.  I've always said hell-a-bor'-is, myself, but Graham
Birkin - breeder extraordinaire - says 'hell-y-borus' in this super
British accent...wish I could duplicate it:-)  Can't say I've ever
heard hell-eb'-orus spoken:-)

FWIW, before I heard Cotoneaster spoken, I said cotton easter,
myself.  And you'd really chuckle if you could have heard what I
called Gypsophila before I knew any better:-)  Really, the
pronunciation of botanical names varies greatly depending on where
people are from and  I really think actually knowing the name and
hanging it on the right plant is more important than "correct" (what
is that?) pronunciation...
