Hi Joanie
Yes, most of the southeast, including where I live (that is, until this
autumn and winter, when we've had major floods throughout the whole
country - it's rained more or less non-stop since 14 September). Very often
we watch the weather forecast for the rest of the country and they say "A
weather front with rain" only to watch it pass over to the north and west of
us. So, when they talk about the country being fairly damp, it often
doesn't apply to the south east of England. Where Beth Chatto is, is
definitely the driest part though.
