Re: Carex
Hello Nancy,
A bit of confusion has crept in here... perhaps I have not been very clear. I
am Not interested in Carex for sun... I am a shade gardener. My selections will be
aimed toward part to full shade, able to withstand root competition, thus a bit of
dryness from that and raised beds during summer and early fall. Many of the carex
listed for full sun also have the requirement of additional constant moisture.
As I mentioned to Joanie, I am not actually growing anything as yet... just
getting pointed for ordering wholesale to play with. Right now it is looks as
though these four will be the ones.
C. conica 'Snowline" (8 to 10 "), white with a thin band of green.
C. dolichostachya "Kaga Nishki' (10 - 12"), bright gold.
C. flaccosperma (6-10"), glaucus blue
C. morowii 'Silver Sceptre' (12"), white margins, silvery cast
Have been pretty busy... writing for major gardening mags, getting my 2001
catalog together, inventory up on the web site. Also Christmas and the holidays.
All us big kids need at least 3 weeks to celebrate before we can settle down and
get back to work. Wonderful holiday!
