Thanks for the advice, Janet, which I pasted in below for those who might
have missed it. I'll give a sunnier location a shot. I absolutely love this
spring flower.

<< It's not quite like Anemone nemerosa etc, in that above all it seems
to like good drainage rather than woodsy conditions. It shouldn't be
necessary to soak the tubers (unlike A. coronaria, etc) and it really
needs a position where it can get some sun as otherwise the flowers
don't open properly. Once it's happy it self-seeds quite nicely. It's
good round the base of trees, a bit like Cyclamen, where it can get
improved drainage from the tree-roots. I would try perhaps a warmer
sunnier position.
