| I saw this one lonely plant at the garden center where I work and loved the
leaves -- beautifully textured heart-shaped leaves! It had lost its tag so no one knew what it was. I was curious b/c it was so unusual looking and asked "what is it?" all summer. Finally it was marked down a couple times so I gave in and took it home. Figured anything with such wonderful leaves couldn't be all bad. I've bought things B4 just for the foliage and whatever else this does will just be a nice bonus. Well... I was thumbing thru a catalog one day and saw it!! I also found a picture on the Net but will have to search again. Not only wonderful leaves but the flower was breathtaking!! Of course, I have no idea if it will be exactly the same but I will be extremely happy if it is somewhat close. I know this isn't much help. But I figure it must be pretty hardy if it lived thru 3 months+ at Wal-Mart and still looked pretty good! I brought it home in August. It was rootbound in a deep 4" pot. I repotted it b/c I wanted to put it somewhere special and wasn't sure where that would be. It set in the shade and it had possibly doubled by the time I planted it in the ground in late Sept. I did nothing special for it, not even fertilizer. I also suspect it may be a good spreader. I'm so looking forward to seeing what it does next summer!!! Like you I would like to hear comments from others. Best Wishes -- Barbara USDA Zone 5, Rock Island, Illinois USA |
