Susan, I found 4 nurseries in Gresham & Boring that grow Fagus 'Roseo-Marginata' (the botanical name). Contact me privately for the list. The one I saw was grown in Canada -- must have been a warm area. I wasn't successful in finding much information on the internet about this tree. The little I found made it sound like it may be hard to locate in the US. Does anyone know of sources? -----Original Message----- From: Donna [j*@prairieinet.net] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 7:23 PM To: perennials@hort.net Subject: RE: Tri-color Beech Where are you from? It is border line here for me... 40 miles south of Chicago, Zone 5. Some do survive in a protected micro climate area. Although this winter, it probably would have done fine- today it was an unheard of 52 degrees! I know a few people who have them, and they are wonderful to look at. Just to expensive for me to try in my open area yard. Maybe in a few years when I can protect them.
