Guys,

I should mention Don's list may be limited in numbers so if you need
information from him or want an order, you should do it right away. Also he
is one man so the orders are sent in the way you instruct him to do so.

I have this great big beautiful Bergenia ciliata from him. On another list
there was discussion on how to grow it as the flowers emerge early and are
frozen here on the East Coast.

I decided to grow mine in a container and put it in the glass room for the
winter. My room is very light and quite cool. There was conjecture that it
needed a deciduous period but it has not. It is huge, really large hairy
leaves with not one lost since being brought under glass. I think there is
a
flower stalk forming but not knowing the plant it may be something else.

Some of you further south should be able to grow this plant outdoors. The
main problem seems to be early emergence of the flower buds. This is a
shade
loving plant. It is a native of India.

Always something on Don's list to test your skills.

For those of you where ice in the mailbox is not a problem there is also an
early spring clearance of summer bulbs from Telos Bulbs on the West Coast.
If I could receive these orders I would get one off immediately. She is
offering Bessera which is a summer bloomer here, grown and treated as
gladiolus. There are others as well.
