My first choice would be
Chicagoland Gardening Magazine- Great for my area.. plants highlighted will
grow in this zone. Covers a vast type interests. They are also not an uppity
editor or publisher. They are willing to come out into the community and
share ideas. So of course, I have to plug my group :( -- Anyone wishing to
meet Carolyn Ulrich (editor) contact me privately- she will be at our Wild
Ones meeting Sept 7th at Gibson Woods.. (Sorry Chris, had to do it)
My other choices would not fit into this list... but for those pond people--
definitely Watergardening. Another local published magazine by Sue and Greg
Speichert, but this one does have national and international subscribers.
... I also enjoyed Helen Nash's Pond and Garden but that one is another one
that didn't make it financially :(...and birds and blooms for those with
that interest is always a good choice.
Another choice, but I say this with reserve is Wild Ones National
Newsletter. In the past it was a great publication, but with new writers and
publisher.. we will have to see since they just took over this month. :)
As far as all those lovely-- buy me now!--- things you get in the mail- The
circular file is where they belong. Seems they are getting to be more and
more ads and less interesting articles. Go to your local bookstore, or
grocery store, and pick out the ones that interest you that month. We have
perennial magazines that come out qtrly, but can not subscribe to here.
Having said all of that, I do get horticulture, fine gardening, garden
railway, AHS, country living gardener, and country home-country garden, and
a vast other magazines relating to other interests, such as Koi USA,
pondkeepers, and village cronical, and Midwest living... At times the
magazines out way the time to read them all... Not sure if all will be
renewed. Do all of you get into that rut-- say you are not going to renew,
but they always come out with something just at that time, and of course,
you renew again :)
I guess that is more than two huh!
