Like everyone else, it is whatever the weather dictates, and stretchy
and comfortable.
BUT I do like walking/hiking boots (Nike, about $80). I can be out
there all day, even after foot surgery on both feet, and my feet won't
get tired. I can't last that long in good tennis shoes, shopping. I
suppose I could make the fashion statement, wearing hiking boots with
EVERYTHING, but I'm not that brave!

Ok -
I garden in shorts (unless it is completely frigid) and a tee shirt.
White
socks and my secret weapon - skate boarder sneakers. Almost as tough as
boots, with the support my ankles need. My tools are in one bucket and I
carry another for weeds.
But I could never go outside in a bathrobe - too public.
oh - yes groundhog/woodchuck/*(&*()&)($# all the same animal to me!
