This is kind of an interesting thread, since I am fairly certain the quality
of HD vs Lowe's depending on each individual store. In reality they are
practically the same entity. Here they are undifferentiate other than one
has lots of orange and the other lots of blue on their signs. The same
plants are in them (and in Walmart, Target and Orchard Supply for that
matter), and they last for the same amount of time.

Lowe's has HD beat by a mile. Going to HD is like going to a big warehouse
and its hard to navigate around. Local HD store is not kept up as well as
Lowes.
Lowes takes much better care of plants than HD. At HD they are dead in a few
days because of the lack of care
