Those Bare Root Bargain Boxes

Yesterday I went nuts at Lowes and WalMart buying those bare root plants that come out this time of year. Since I won't be planting them for about a month and a half wonder if I should spritz them with water or just let them wait for me in the garage. I usually don't buy those when its not time to plant but I have a lot of plants to purchase for our back yard and I'm getting quite anxious.
There are several ferns, hydrangea, cannas, caladiums, daylilies, clemetis, liatrus, elephant ears, hostas.

I'm getting ready to start from seed several plumerias and I'm going to try a Magnolia. Anyone with experience starting these? We are fortunate here in zone 8 that winter doesn't last too long. This is new for me and I'm enjoying it.
