Re: Cold Frame

Just a couple of further suggestions for the cold frame. Think about using
plexiglass, especially if you have young ones throwing footballs or the
likes around. It's fairly light and its much more durable than glass.
Some eyelets attached to the frame can be secured with string assuring that
the window won't blow off in a storm.

Screens keep out animals, but they also serve to disperse rain, keeping
seedlings from getting banged up in rain storms. Screens also help cut down
on the intensity of sunlight, thus creating some shade for seedlings. You
might want to consider building a small frame that you can move around also.
I have one that I seem to constantly be moving. It can be a very simple
structure.

One other necessity is a minimum/maximum thermometer. It's amazing just how
fast these can heat up.

Hope this helps.
