Re: low maintenance

Chris,

The first year I had the blood grass, we had an exceptionally dry summer and
it was in a relatively sunny position. Last year, however, I moved it to a
much shadier site, mulched it heavily and did water it everyonce in a while.
I'm not in the habit of watering, I feel that if the plant can't make it on
its own, then farewell of finicky one. This particular bed was a new one
and I had planted a number of shrubs in it. While plants are becoming
established, I will pamper them a bit and maybe that's why I had better
success with the blood grass. Maybe it just takes a while to become
established, I don't know. Don't give up after only one year--try again.
Who knows, it might be spectacular in a container with plants of similar
needs. I can just picture it with chartreuse and purple. Wow, maybe knock
your socks off?!
