>What are my possibilities for perennials in Houston?
Hi William,
I'm in a So. Calif. Zone 9a, not Houston, but here are some of the
perennials I grow:
Cistus (rockrose)
Bog sage
Pineapple sage
Buddleia Davidii
Mexican Bush Sage
Chrysanthemums - 30 different cultivars
Daylilies (hemerocallis)
Brunfelsia (yesterday today and tomorrow plant)
Felicia daisy
Vinca major (an annual, but acts like a 2-3 season perennial here)
Hydrangeas
Pelargoniums
Bougainvillea
Nerium oleanders
Lantanas - bush and trailing
Physostegia - obedient plant
Echinacea purpurea
Rudbeckias
Agapanthus (lily of the nile)
Camellias should grow fine, too, also lilacs that don't require a hard
freeze. Forget growing peonies, it's too warm. :-(
I have others, too -- I'd have to take a walk in the yard and jot some
notes down.
Your climate may vary, but these grow successfully here.
