I have a similar situation in my garden. A 6' wooden fence which I would
call
stockade type, having minimal space between the uprights, works well.
I am growing a groundcover layer of rare ivies (write to Hedera Etc. for
catalog $2.) and have placed virtually all my new hellebores among the ivy
trails. The ivies have found the perfect place to display themselves up on
the
wooden fence.
Since many of them are silver/white/green variegated, I have added the
shrub
Symphoricarpus variegatus (snowberry) and it does very well there. Joanne
