Yup, I know what a cattle guard is having to walk and drive over them
quite a lot. At any rate, if it's a sight pattern recognition, then any
square grid eg wide mesh HW cloth or nylon net ought to do the trick.

Oh boy....then....could a knot garden become a 'Not you, deer, garden'?
.......especially if you use deer resistant herbs as part of the pattern??
