Re: Pink Coreopsis

The pink thread-leaved coreopsis (coreopsis verticillata 'rosea') is kin to
the more popular pale yellow thread-leaved coreopsis 'Moonbeam'. It has
little daisy-like flowers with yellow eyes, each flower being about the
size of a quarter. There are so many at one time that it looks like a pink
haze. Excellent, excellent edger. Grows about a foot high and wide and
blooms at least three months straight -- more if you cut it back. I can't
say enough about it: drought-resistant, takes full sun with no problems,
needs only moderate fertilizing if at all, no pests to bother it, suffers
no mildew problems, spreads only enough to make you fall in love with it.
Lots of bang for the buck.

You can get these from just about anywhere, but I bought mine from my
favorite Bluestone Perennials (1-800-852-5243). For $8.50, you get three
plants in small pots. Mine grew like a weed that first year and bloomed
like crazy (I'm not suprised as Bluestone has good quality plants even
though they are a little smaller -- but for the price, sheesh! And you get
three free plants with each order!). Got my new catalog and guess what?
They have one that is white, a dark yellow one, and a variety called
'American Dream' that is touted as "an improved variety that was the
Netherland's 1993 Plant of the Year" and the flowers are a more rose pink.

Had mine for three years now and had to divide it out this past summer.
