Hi Heather,
Welcome to the list! I've had no trouble germinating C. latifolia - Igive 1
month cold stratification then move to about 15 - 20C temperature.
Primroses (Primulas in general) should respond to the same treatment, but
they must be exposed to light and the seed tends to be short lived in dry
storage - so commercial seed is often dead. I use a 1:1:1 mix of
pasteurized loam,peat,and perlite for a seed mix for everything and usually
get good results(I'm sowing about 150 species this year).
