Re: Mushroom Compost

Guess it all depends on your location.  I live very near the "Mushroom Capital of the World" and mushroom soil here is very cheap.  I pay about $9.00 per cubic yard.  I also live in horse country and watch the mushroom farms come and get the horse manure and take it back to their houses.  After they are done with it, some mushroom growers even give it away.  This past year was the first that I used it in any real quantity, but everything has flourished.  I never even mulched over it because the color is so dark and doesn't seem to get that washed-out look that mulch can.
