Truffles can be grown in the Texas hill country, too. After WWII, I
sponsored a French child. His brother was still a baby. A few
years ago, I met them in Austin, TX, where the "baby" brother had
come to try to establish a truffle industry. These fungi grow at the
base of oak trees and we have lots of oaks in Texas. They are very
strong smelling and cost a fortune.
Kris P., I don't know if you really know the definition of gourmet food
or if you've had a good cook prepare gourmet dishes for you. My
daughter and I pride ourselves on the gourmet dishes we regularly
serve to our families.
